Oh I see. You need to junk that and use the Haversine formula.

You can't use Pythagoras' theorem in spherical geometry, it's for
Euclidean (plane) geometry; and in any case a direct correlation of 1
degree = 111.2km (approximately) only applies if both your points are
on a Great Circle.
