Cancelling Previous Reqs

I have any application which has 2 links which sends async reqs. When
the user clicks first link then the second link before the first link
response is arrived; the behaviour I get is that the first links
display gets painted in the browser then the second links as soon as
the second links display is returned like a continous flow. I dont
want the first links response as the user clicked the second link.

is there a way to stop the first link response once the user changes
his mind and clicks another?
