So it's not an API issue, since all the API is doing is providing a
browser-independent wrapper. Your Firefox is not intercepting the
event and passing it to the API.

Both your pages work fine in Firefox 2 under Windows XP. Firefox is a
bit haphazard -- it can take a second for the event to be recognised;
or it can happen instantaneously. But it always happens.

However: see this https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372670
which shows that the problem is actually using "alert" to do the
reporting.
