How to get POI in nearby surrounding of actual GPS Position

Hi all.

I'm trying to develop a mobile application which is able to show
special Points of Interest (POI) in the nearby surrounding of the
current GPS-Position.

What I have: The actual GPS position
What I need: The next (nearest) POI of a special Type (e.g. Cinema)
according to this position with description (name) / postal address
and maybe distance to this address.

Are there any Google Maps API calls to manage this functionality ?
