Re: Need some directions on how to build something like phpMyAdmin

Although I believe there are ways to determine all of the different
databases on a single server within CakePHP, offhand I'm not sure what
they would be. Judging by the lack of replies since your original
post, no one else does either.

What's that mean? Well, it means it's not an oft-used portion of the
framework, probably something buried deep in the Core code that *can*
be used by us, but typically isn't.

What's that mean for you? You can still fall back on standard PHP
when necessary.

As for whether you can have a single controller that dynamically maps
to a different database and different table - I don't see why not.
You have one to two values that need to be passed to the controller:
"database" and (when chosen) "table". Each action in the controller
would simply require that information. It all depends on how your
application is built out, however.
