GPS Time / Elevation graphs. Anyone got any info on doing these?

A bit OT I know, but I figured someone in here may well know the
answer...
I am trying to generate elevation / distance or elevation / time
charts from GPS data.

However, the problem is that the samples in most GPS logs are not at a
set time or set distance apart, so the graphs look wrong.

Can anyone direct me to any info which may help?

Does anyone know of APIs that may be able to reformat the data? I am
using the google graphing API to output the graphs at the moment, but
if someone knows a graphing API that will plot the data correctly,
that would be great.

Note that the data will have come from a GPX or similar file, but the
way it is stored in my application is not GPX, so I am not looking for
code to perform this function on a GPX file.

Thank you.

My site is http://placebook.tv

Oh, and I am using the v3 API. Yes, I know there is a v3 group, but
this is much busier and what I am asking for is not really API
dependant.
