Is it possible to use Google Map API for Java SE Application

i want to use google map api for my java SE application. the
application is connected to internet all the time.

this application is implemented for my Final year project. i have read
the google map documentation and it says that its possible to create
google map api in the normal applications. if so can someone help me
about the steps and any documentation

other thing is. if its possible how to get a key. we do need to
provide a url to get a google map key rite. please help me on this
