Panorama ID changes when Google re-records the location?

I am storing bookmarks into Streetview and I'd like to know if the
scene was updated from the time of original bookmarking. Is checking
the Panorama ID the way to do this? Specifically, when Google re-
records a location to refresh their Streetview image database with
more recent photos:
1) does the old panorama id (panoid, pano_id) become invalid? or,
2) do the new images get associated with the original panorama id?
3) is the old associated imagery become inaccessible?

I am storing a few bookmarks now and it will become apparent
eventually, but thought someone may already know. Or maybe I'm way
off track and there's a better way. Thanks for any advice.
