Setting Focus to the Map

I've searched through the group and can't find what I need to make
this work. I've added a GKeyboardHandler to my maps and it works
perfectly, but only *after* clicking on the map to give it focus. How
do I set the focus to the map automagically? I can do this for form
elements, but what I've tried so far isn't working for the map.

When the map is first displayed the shortcuts don't work, but after
clicking on the map they work fine. I'm sure it's some simple
JavaScript, but I haven't been able to figure it out and I'm not
johnny-javascript either. :)
