circle inside polygon (or circle)

i have figured out how to create a polygon within a polygon -- the
gray outside with the clear rectangle -- however i really want a hole
to be that blue circle. i don't mind if the black shape is a polygon
or a circle. i just want to create a circle inside another shape. is
this possible without using KML? how would i use KML code for this
aspect of the map and javascript for the rest? simple examples or
modifications of my code GREATLY appreciated.
