Track data changes

Hi,

Is there some way by which i can track what all has changed when a user submits a form.
i.e, i display a form to a user(with data) -> the user *can* change some of its form elements -> submits the form.

One way to do that would be to compare with the model when the user submits and do a diff between the form and that of the model. But is their a more *generic* solution?
