[android-developers] Altitude location data

Hi all.

I know that the GPS altitude data isn't particularly reliable, so I
looked for alternatives. This looks like a good solution I found here:

But the value returned is not what I expected:

-1.79769313486231E+308

I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with this figure... any ideas
please?
