Yup, this has been mentioned around the group and I started (ab)using this too just recently.
 
Apparently it's not terribly limited in size.

Nope. So far enough space to indicate what's changed and throw in the obligatory "Email me with any issues!"
 
I guess the downsize is that you can't really use your versionName field straight up in your app's about box.

But strings are easily parsed ...
 
Anyway, it's kinda hacky and I don't use it, but I thought it was worth bringing to the table.

Hacky, but effective until we get a real solution to the problem(s).
