Use Auth Component in Helper

Hi Guys,

i would like to create a modified linkhelper that only displays a
link, if the user is allowed to use it.

i have created a mechanism to map users to roles and everything.

but now, i dont know how to access Auth's Userdata in my Helper to
check the users rights before displaying the link.

Or is it a general design failure to create a special helper for this
task..
