[Google Maps API v2] How do I extract the GMarkers from an existing Overlay?

I'm creating the first overlay with a KML import (using GeoXML). Now
I would like to cycle through that Overlay and build an array with all
the Markers attached to it.

There are a lot of examples out there on how to build an array using
new markers that were created by the script. However, I need to
extract markers from an existing overlay and build an array with the
information.
