[android-developers] VPN traffic enroute

When connected to VPN does the entire traffic route through VPN in
current Android platform (FroYo)?

If so why would this design be adopted in Android?

VPN means one needs extra encryption header on top of data packet to
be transmitted over cellular network. Why do we need to enroute all
traffic unnessarily through this tunnel.

Secnondly enrouting all the traffic through VPN also makes private or
corporate bit vulnerable.

Split tunnel is probably not yet supported in Android. This gives some
way of enrouting traffic through different tunnels - but not a perfect
solution for non-VPN traffic.

Could somebody throw more light on this - Mike or somebody from Google
responsible for data connectivity?

I still believe entire traffic should not be routed through VPN .
