Position of the Splitter in the HorizontalSplitPanel

Hi all
it is not possible to get the positione of the Splitter into an
HorizontalSplitPanel.

If i try to extend the HorizontalSplitPanel the override the
appropriate method and set it public, Eclipse
warn me it is a "deprecated class"

Anybody knows a way to solve this?
