[Google Maps API v2] API Key & Add-on Domain

Hi, I have installed the Ushahidi map platform to a sub-directory on
my site. I have a separate domain name pointing to just this sub-
directory and I am having a problem getting the API key to work.

So my set up is like this

mainsite.com
-sub-directory-containing-map

"sub-directory-containing-map" is then the home page of another
domain, call it "mapsite.com"

i have tried putting in "mapsite.com" and getting a key from that but
it says it does not work. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
