[Google Maps API v2] What does deprecated mean?

I understand from Google's deprecation policy that it continues to
serve Google Maps API v2 for about three years after May 19, 2010.
However, what happens after that? Does Google stop serving V2
completely, or just stop updating it? In other words, are all of the
V2 maps in the world going to stop working after three years?
