...one little page served with CakePHP, a framework with many features that take up memory. 8MB is not a lot of memory these days. (Right now, my email program is using 100MB of memory; my web browser 260MB.) Many years ago, PHP used to have a default memory_limit of 8MB per process; these days, the default limit is 128MB. Clearly the developers of PHP realized that 8MB was too small for the kinds of things people are doing with PHP these days. Increase your PHP's memory limit by modifying the php.ini as explained before.

Nope, at this point I don't know why your script needs more memory. If your scripts start having trouble under 128MB of RAM, then I'd start investigating.
