[android-developers] Changing flash light brightness

Hi,

I've seen that some phones (like HTC Desire) have the capability of
modifying the brightness/intensity level of the flash when using it in
TORCH mode.

Is it possible for third party developers to access those APIs for
application development? And will this API be part of the Android OS
anytime in the future?
