You can use something like this:

sendKeys(KeyEvent.KEYCODE_ALT_LEFT, KeyEvent.KEYCODE_9,
KeyEvent.KEYCODE_ALT_LEFT, KeyEvent.KEYCODE_0);
assertEquals("()", mTV.getText().toString());
