I agree with you about the simulator/emulator. If you don't have an absolute stellar system (and even then...), the emulator can be very slow.

But Eric's problem is with an actual device, not the emulator and Google is acknowledging the problem with the emulator. 

And I haven't seen the issues that he's describing when debugging on his device.
