Unfortunately, I cannot know the height of the inner item, since
getOffsetHeight returns 0. :-/

However, if I knew the height h of the inner item, then I could set
the top margin to the positive value h. Why should one set a negative
value?

Setting "top:50%" alone does not help.

So what can I do?
