So, that comment was wrong, but is it still trying to say something important? Should I be dismissing the dialog somewhere? Does it matter if the dialog is managed (as it now is)?

If you're managing the dialog yourself, you are responsible for dismissing it at some point. If you created a managed dialog, it will be taken care of for you.
