Yeah, we tried that too -- no luck.

We tried that too -- still no luck. This notebook is recalcitrant.
I don't see a telnet option to change orientation. Is there a shell
command (e.g., an am subcommand) that can do it? I can probably do it
via a monkeyrunner script if needed.
