Tree and Indentation in pagination lists

If i have a list of continents and want to indent them by level of
hierarchy, is that possible simply by looking at left/right?
I could look at parent_id but that would only work for the first
level... (would be enough in this scenario, but what if I wanted to
combine Africa, Europe and Asia to "Afro-Eurasia" as Parent?)

In the model I got $actsAs = array(Tree)
The paginated view looks like:

Eurasia 15.07.2011, 19:55
Europe Eurasia 15.07.2011, 19:55
Asia Eurasia 15.07.2011, 19:55
America 15.07.2011, 19:56
South America America 15.07.2011, 19:56
North America America 15.07.2011, 19:56
Antarctica 15.07.2011, 19:56
Australia

It should be

Eurasia
Europa
Asia
America
South America
North America
Antarctica
Australia

I want to prevent the controller from making another query to the DB
(for hierarchy) if necessary
