[Google Maps API v2] Looking for event when map loading finished

Hi,

wiht Javascript I display a small "movie" that displays markers on a
map. These markers change their position in dependency of time.
Sometimes the zoom factor and / or the center of the map must be
changed.

When the map tiles are not yet cached, the Javascript continues moving
the markers before the map is completely loaded. the effect is that
the markers appear before a grey background.

Go i have any chance to define an event that is fired after all map
tiles are completely drawn? I tried the 'idle' event, bu this event
was never fired.

Do I have a better chance with API V 3?
