[Google Maps API v2] Distance to a specific location - following a defined path

Hi

I am writing an app that tracks a vehicle along a defined path. I'd
like to be able to use google maps api to determine how far it is from
its destination on this route, based on its current gps co-ordinates.
This pre-defined route is off-road so using the existing distance
matrix api wont work for me. I'd like to do what it does, except tell
it what route to calculate the distance on rather that google maps
determining its own route.

Is this possible to do?
