Is there a way to use SplitLayoutPanel/DockLayoutPanel in panel other than RootLayoutPanel e.g RootPanel or SimplePanel

Hi everyone,
what I know is DockLayoutPanel and SplitLayoutPanel
resize width and heigth of <div> according to available space, thats
why adding them to panel like RootPanel causes problem, like most of
the time east and west components do not show up as because of not
having appropriate height.

So what if I want to use such panel at a particular
position with some defined width and height. In short what if I want
to them in some other panel like SimplePanel. Is there way to use
them or I just have to use other panels with css styling to get the
same effect.
