I have not done this, but if they are the same markers and polylines,
just moving around, I imagine it would be easier to give them all a
unique ID and move them rather than deleting them and adding them
every second.

the other thing to consider is that v2 of the API is now deprecated
and new projects should be started in v3 (unless some specific reason
exists to use v2)
