[android-developers] Disable of compatibility mode freezes app at last zoom or stretch mode

Due to issue 19817:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=19817

I want to disable compatibility mode in my app, but I notice that if I
do, then the tablet (Xoom or Samsung Galaxy Tab 10inch) retains the
last compatibility mode setting to display my app.

So if I zoom my app using compatibility mode, then install the upgrade
that disables compatibility mode, my app is stuck in zoom mode. If
the user had left my app in stretch mode, then the app is stuck in
stretch mode when that user upgrades to the no-compatibility mode app.

Is there any way programatically to change the zoom or stretch after
disabling compatibility mode?

BTW: I'm disabling compatibility mode by adding to my manifest:
<supports-screens android:largeScreens="true"
android:xlargeScreens="true">
