Transfer params for current window

I have a link that opens a popup window.
If the window is opened as popup there are some things that are to be
shown and other to be hidden.
And if it is not opened as popup you get the usual stuff.
For example in tinymce you open a popup window to insert a image , so
I need an 'Insert' link for every image.

So far I did it like this:
in the link to browse the uploaded images I set a named parameter "p:
1"
and in the view I check if p=1 I show the 'Insert' link

Works fine except that I dont keep this parameter if I enter other
page, edit an image, browse other category ...
I tried to use the Session to keep the parameter, but after the
parameter is set I always get the link, not only in the popup window.
