[android-developers] Can you Determine the x,y Coordinates of a Character in TextView?

Hi guys,
I'm finishing up my app that's a custom keyboard for Android.  I'm using TextView because it doesn't have a default keyboard and it seem to work better in FrameLayout.  I'm toying with the idea of having text appear to fly in the TextView widget.  I figure if I know the font width, height and row of text I could do it.  Has anyone ever tried this?
