[Google Maps API v2] Custom Icons using an intranet image

Hello,

I am trying to use a custom icon for my static map, however if i use a image from my intranet the map doe snot seem to work is this a limitation of the API or am I doing something wrong?

Here is the marker with a public image which works: http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?sensor=false&center=32.78002,-96.80376&zoom=15&size=639x639&maptype=roadmap&markers=icon:http://www.ascendix.com/images/test.png%7C32.78002,-96.80376

Here is the same with the intranet image which does not work:  http://maps.google.com/maps/api/staticmap?sensor=false&center=32.78002,-96.80376&zoom=15&size=639x639&maptype=roadmap&markers=icon:http://svrc-xre-dev.awx-colo-dom.net/_AdvantageWorks/core/image.ashx?id=421ce82c-2740-410e-b5f6-fa94147850b1&orgname=AdvantageWorks%7C32.78002,-96.80376

This URL returns a PNG : http://svrc-xre-dev/_AdvantageWorks/core/image.ashx?id=421ce82c-2740-410e-b5f6-fa94147850b1&orgname=AdvantageWorks

any ideas?

Thanks
