Re: Finished tutorials but do not know how to proceed learning

You can do any of those paths and will need to eventually. If I were you, I would make sure your database is setup right, maybe do some MySQL tutorials along the way. Everything is based off your database tables and their associations so getting those setup right will save you a lot of time down the road.   Then bake out your models, controllers and views and see where that puts you. All in all, get your feet wet.

Hello. Let me say upfront, thank you for any offering time and expertise to help.

I've finished the Blog Tutorials and the Acl Tutorials. I've familiarized myself with most of the documentation. But I feel lost about what to do next, specifically to add my own tables into this project.

My hope is to take an existing MySQL database of about 10 tables and create a front-end management tool. The major table is a list of 15,000 Topics. Most of the remaining tables have a one-to-one relationship with this Topics table. One final, and very important table is an MPTT hierarchy table that categorizes all of these topics in a hierarchy. Anyway, that was just a little background.

My main question is where do I go next? Do I focus next on making sure my tables meet the conventions and then do a bake of each of those tables? Do I have to define all the relationships more specifically before I do this? Do I need to learn about scaffolding next? Do I need to learn about behaviors next?

It just feels like there is a reference of a lot of information in the documentation, but I'm not sure the path to take in my development.

Again, thank you so much for your help.
