Websphere Portal Lead Developer(Scrum)
Work Location : Pleasanton , CA

Web Lead -- Developer  

The Lead Web Developer position will be part of a scrum development team that is enhancing a feature set on the client. The developer will be required to design, develop and unit test components in a highly iterative and agile manner. Aside from solid web development skills, the candidate filling the position must have experience with portal technology, Test Driven Develop (TDD) techniques, and have the demeanor and communication skills required for pair programming and for working closely with other business and IT partners in a collocated location.

Responsibilities

•          As a part of a scrum team, design and development of solutions in Java for portal-based kp.org web presence using paired programming, iterative and Test Driven Development techniques.

•          Ensure that the designs and code of fellow developers on the team are consistent, follow standards and are properly reviewed.

•          Participate in scrum team planning and retrospective sessions

•          Effective participants in a Scrum team work on what the team needs to accomplish, regardless of their primary focus.   This may include:

•          Functional testing:  Design and development of test cases, and manual and automated scripts

•          Product ownership:   Work with the product owner as needed on requirements

o          provide feedback on major requirements

o          analyze, create or modify detailed requirements

•          Manage impediments:  Work with the Scrum Master as needed to remove impediments, including those that require coordination and work across multiple teams.

 

Skills & Experience

•          2 years Websphere Portal Experience,

•          4 years experience with open source development tools, e.g. Subversion, Maven, CruiseControl, ANT

•          2 years experience with SOA and Enterprise Service Bus

•          2 years experience developing solutions that are JSR 168/286 and WSRP compliant

•          2 years experience developing solutions for SOAP/Web Services/WS-I.

•          2 years experience with Oracle database products and database design.

•          1 year experience with Web Application Security and Single Sign-On technologies.

•          2 years experience using Rational Application Developer or Eclipse development environments; Borland Together or other Design tools

•          1 year experience developing solutions using Test Driven Development and Paired Programming

•     Knowledge of Agile Methdologies

•     Bachelors degree or equivalent

•          Unix - Linux or Solaris

•          CVS, Subversion

•          Portal (IBM WebSphere Portal Server 6.x)

•          Object Oriented Software Development

•          Patterns – know basic patterns and how to apply

•          JavaScript

•          XML, XSLT

•          Web 2.0

•          Web Services Testing – (SOAP, WSDL)

•          HTML and Dynamic HTML

•          AJAX – (ideally DOJO or DWR)

•          SQL & relational dbs, scripting

•          Scripting – e.g. Perl, shell or Jython 

•          JAWs Reader – nice to have

•          Tolerance of ambiguity.  Must exercise considerable judgment while making decisions on complex and sometimes unclear issues associated with the development of the specific application.

•          Requires complex decision-making in developing and implementing solutions with meet the requirements as defined by the product owner.

•          Must be able to understand complex business problems and develop software solutions individually and as a member of a team

•          Must develop solutions to a diverse range of complex problems which require creativity and innovation within broadly defined policies and practices.

•          Requires in-depth analysis to identify and recommend new solutions to these more complex problems

•          Must be able to work in a close, very interactive environment on a scrum team.

•          Must be able to communicate ideas and potential solutions to business and IT partners clearly and concisely

•          Exercises considerable latitude in determining approaches to assignment as defined by scrum team backlog

•          Work is accomplished without considerable direction but possibly in a paired-programming manner
