I haven't done this, so I might be wrong, but...

first, wouldn't just setting params=[value] work? furthermore, isn't
that the whole point of the params thing? maybe unaccent(%%%s%%)'
params=[value].
secondly.. wouldn't chaining .extra() methods work?
