[android-developers] wondering if a value of "*" is deprecated for the metadata "android.app.default_searchable"?

<application...>
<activity.../>
<meta-data android:name="android.app.default_searchable"
android:value="*" />
</application>

Is this feature of indicating "*" seem to be deprecated.

The following lines in Searchables.java

// This value is deprecated, return null
if (refActivityName.equals(MD_SEARCHABLE_SYSTEM_SEARCH)) {
return null;
}
