Write a ContentProvider for your free version that offers the data files to the requesting paid version. You should define a permission for your ContentProvider with protectionLevel=signature so no unauthorized third party app can request that data from your ContentProvider (you must sign the paid version with the same key though).

Implement the method

public ParcelFileDescriptor openFile(Uri uri, String mode)

in your ContentProvider for offering the files.

Hello, I have an application on google play that currently only has a free version.

I would like the users to be able to upgrade to the paid version (from within the app or on google play) and maintain the data for the application in the SQLite database. In essence, is there an easy way to upgrade the application and upon doing so change something within the manifest then I can then call on at run time to determine whether to fire the advertisement load method? I have done a bit of searching around but have thus far been unsuccessful.
