1. this group is for the Google Maps API v2, which is deprecated, the
group for the current version, Google Maps API v3 is:

2. technical support for that version of the API has been moved to
StackOverflow, see this post in the v3 group:

3. the resolution of the Google Maps satellite tiles will vary with
location, I see some places with a scale of 20 feet. If you have
imagery that is higher resolution that Google's tiles (maybe aerial
photography), you can make a custom map with that imagery.
