[android-developers] Dimen.xml. Use scenarios.

Having read this:

You should always use dp units when defining your application's UI, to ensure proper display of your UI on screens with different densities.

why should I be concerned about dimen.xml and what the use scenarios out there ?

P.S. I suppose it might be related to my case, where I'm trying to adopt layout for both handset and tablets - not sure though.
