Re: [android-developers] Debugging beta apps

Hi,

I am the first one troubled by the change in Google Forms and discontinuing its use as a backend for ACRA's reports.
Using these Forms was the single original idea at the root of the project.

Now, as it is some sort of hack, I have always been wondering about how long it would be possible and I'm quite happy that we have been able to provide dead-simple crash reports to any android dev.

Since I've been contacted by Google to stop advising the use of Google Forms as an automatic submission backend, I've been working on defining a proper solution that would keep with the ideas of openness, simplicity and costless. Honestly I even had started the project a few weeks before.
ACRA was basically becoming a tool for third-party commercial services and this was not the goal of this project.

Acralyzer is in a very, VERY fresh alpha stage. It is rather usable (in my opinion far more useable than spreadsheets) but setting it up can be time consuming and is subject to errors. I really would like to provide a one-click deployment solution but I don't know exactly how to accomplish this for the moment and have to share the few hours per week I can dedicate to home-development between maintaining ACRA, adding features to Acralyzer and finding some way to improve its deployment.

This is a personnal open source project, any help is welcome to make the tool fit the android developers community needs.

Actually, Guy is guilty of sloppy phrasing. I was thinking it seemed like the no-cost and low set-up backend was going. For me, not having to arrange storage was an attraction of ACRA.

Apologies to those who have contributed to ACRA.
