No doubt this has been asked already, but I'm going to ask it anyway.
My company is interested in using Google Maps to generate route
information between any two points, but it needs to be automated--
i.e., it should be able to run unattended and output a map for saving
to a file or to a SQL Server database. We would like to pass the
latitude/longitude coordinates for the beginning and ending point of
each route and get back the streets representing the route between
them. I know that this can be done with GRoute via JavaScript, but
because we would be generating a large number of maps (one use is as
part of a nightly batch job), it is obviously more efficient if the
process could be automated.
Is there any way to do this? I am experimenting with automating
Internet Explorer (yes, we're a Windows/.NET shop, and our users will
be using Windows laptops both here and in the field), but would like
suggestions or recommendations. Is this functionality even available
at this time?
