[Google Maps API v2] How I Implement Search By Distance?

I have a database of members of my website. I would like to implement a search so that members can find other members near themselves. Each member has entered a mailing address. How do I find all of the members who are within 5 miles of a specific address? Do I store lat and long in my db for all addresses when entered and then do some kind of math on the values to find the members whose lat/long put them all in the right circle?
