Thanks.
I did a bit more reading and it looks like Ford did not like master
vibrators, and when they did,it was a different set up.
It could be an after market for any number of other vehicles though,
bolted on the firewall.
All in all, very cool!
My grandfather had a car dealership that went under during the
Depression. I have a lot of multiples of parts that are no longer
recognizable as being automotive, yet very common in the day.
He had a junk car in the back yard that he said was very valuable, but
when he died, it got hauled off. Years later my mother saw the same type
vehicle in museum corner, and he was right!

Posting from rec.crafts.metalworking as always.
3025) Interesting device.
The combination of the rectangular openings in the brass sheet,
and the grooved brass or wood plate below it suggest to me a
device to hold type (I've used rubber type of various sizes
which matches to a grooved rubber holder, and this might be for
metal type instead.
The spacing is a bit wide for normal purposes, but perhaps for
setting some kind of puzzle answer it could work.
3026) My first thought on seeing the image (before I zoomed into it)
was one of horror, because it looked somewhat like a Curta
"peppermill" calculator which had been gutted.
However, looking tat it closer, it looks like some kind of spray
head which screws onto the end of a garden hose -- or onto a
pipe.
3027) That looks painful!
Perhaps intended to close on some kind of fruit to split it
apart.
3028) A device to jack two edges apart. Perhaps the right-hand end
goes against a wall and the left-hand edge goes against hardwood
floor to squeeze it tight against the previous one prior to
nailing it in place.
Or perhaps for compressing hand-set movable type?
3029) This looks like a high-voltage coil driven by a vibrator, and
switched on and off by a lock and key. Perhaps intended to make
a burglar's entry via windows too painful to be completed.
It would not be likely to be on the outside of a door to make
entry safe, because there appears to be nothing that the key
does which would latch the cover over the vibrator contact
adjustment to protect it from being disabled by something as
simple as putting a piece of paper or other insulating material
between the contacts.
3030) A pity. This number should be allocated to a specific rifle,
or a part for such a rifle. :-)
Anyway -- the crank turns a gear (visible as a disc with its rim
covered) which turns another pinion gear which engages the rack
gear in the edge of the bar.
The padded loop rests against the edge of something like
furniture, and the end with the hook looks designed to pull
nails -- or I guess that it could also be used to set the
triangular points in the frame of a window to hold the glass
pane in the frame prior to being sealed with putty.
I would like a different angle of view of the hook, but as I
said, it looks like it can pull nails.
Hmm ... at 16" length, it could also be for pulling the sides of
a frame (perhaps a picture frame, perhaps something else)
together during gluing, nailing, or screwing.
Now to post and see what others have suggested.
Enjoy,
DoN.

It's important to remember that with someone as talented as Bottlebob there is always something cooking.
Bottlebob formally worked for Gus Fring until his unexpected passing. He also spent time working for Vamonos Pest Control. Bottlebob is now a very busy consultant to Madrigal Electromotive GmbH as he has taken over all the responsibilities formally held by Lydia Rodarte-Quayle who recently passed away.
https://www.facebook.com/MadrigalElectromotive
"It is with great sadness that we say our goodbye to Senior Account Executive Lydia Rodarte-Quayle. In her career with Madrigal Electromotive GmbH Ms. Quayle used her international expertise and multilingual skills to expand our business network. She was instrumental in expanding the transportation network between the Southwestern United States and the former Eastern Bloc nations. Due to her diligent work the Houston office expanded by 200% during her tenure.
Unfortunately she contracted a virus believed to be H1N1 and passed away on Sunday September, 29th. She leaves a daughter, Kiira along with her favorite cat, Ozyman."

Nice double entendre there, with the use of the word "cooking". But any pharmaceutical cooking was done in a former life.
Although I have recently been interested in retaining brain plasticity. And to that end have been playing with a Rubik's cube for some weeks. I've narrowed it down to having to memorize just 6 algorithms. Which enables the cube to be routinely solved in ~4 minutes. Not contest winning time, but adequate for the average aging baby boomer.

The ability to solve the same exact problem over and over again does not
seem a particularily valuable skill set to me regardless of the actual time
it takes but hey if it helps pass the time for you then so be it.

PM:
Correctomundo. I've alternated different algorithms to cut the solving time down. But now that it's pretty much standardized, it's lost it's appeal. I haven't even touched a Rubik's in like 3 days.

Never ran into an old line printer, did you? They were doing 10 pages per
minute in the '50s. That was about 600 lines perminute on 66 line green bar.
By the late '60s, some were getting up to 2000 lpm. A bit noisy, but what
the hell. Some laser printer can do better but they aren't the ones you see
at Best Buy for the consumer market.
> Do you really think they can't figure out how to do this whole process

I'm sure they will make it quicker.
> Hey, maybe they can come up with a head for a 3D printer that has multiple

They already have multiple extruder heads. If you limit the discussion to
plastic parts, virtually all 3D printers are using thermoplastics. There are
some people playing with thermosets, but that has its technical challenges.
So, look around at some small, thermoplastic part, the caps on your keyboard
for example.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVTgGKGjWDs
I don't know exactly what they're making, but they're making 96 of them in
7.3 seconds.
If you just wanted a few parts, a 3D printer would be a lot less expensive,
but as soon as you start talking about high volume consumer products it will
be a very expensive way to go. So, what you need is a consumer product that
doesn't require enough volume to make it efficiently.
It's sort of like MIM. People bitch about it but many small internal firearm
parts are MIM today. The process fills an economic niche. Particularly with
the more expensive alloys a subtractive process leave a lot of the alloy for
the sweeper. MIM can also do complex or delicate shapes.
I see 3D printing, as it matures, filling a similar niche. What I don't see
is a 3D printer sitting on the kitchen counter churning out coffee cups on
demand.
Years ago before styrofoam became a dirty word, the company I worked for
manufactured the clamshell containers for McDonalds. Shipping costs added a
lot because the things were basically air (or Freon which was what killed
the product). Crystal styrene and freon is compact, and an individual McD's
isn't going to use that much. A little molding machine out by the trash cans
could whip out clamshells for the daily demand. It was an interesting idea
but it didn't survive econoic analysis.

I agree. The Execs should receive 20 times what the guy on the line makes.
Let's see. 20*45,000=900,000 would be acceptable. Not 6.5 Million.
And using Walmart for this example is wrong. 9.00*8*5*52*20=374,400
would be correct. This would include all stocks, bonds, pay, and other
compensations. Not 6.5 Million.
And the CEO isn't the major stockholders. The Major Stockholders are
the Walton Kids and Grandkids. Three of the top 20 richest in the world
are from that family alone.
Most CEOs are junior stockholders only in comparison to the real major
stockholders. They may be part of the Board Meeting but in no way are
they part of the voting when you figure in the voting shares the major
stockholders have.
I don't fault the Stockholders. It's their investment that keeps things
going. But the CEO should NEVER receive such a ridiculous amount.

there seems to be a crack in your logic. The guy says "The minimum
wage in Australia isn't what you claim."
You reply "yes it is. The starting federal minimum wage for under 20
age group in the US is $4.25"
Seems like apples and apples doesn't apply to wages.

Probably true, but cognitive impairments are oftentimes present where a
person's morality has significantly degraded over time.

BWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
«Kresch» killfiled me years ago because he can't defend his positions,
beliefs and ideas.
«Kresch» is, sadly, an emotionally stunted individual. He likes to spout
that he's «Austrian», that he's an «anarcho-capitalist» and that nobody
but him knows «econ».
In the end, though, he's just a pathetic label-shouting, tax-paying dullard.

Nadezhda (Nadya) Tolokonnikova, the Russian artist and activist
who leads the provocatively named punk rock band Pussy Riot, was
thrown into a car by Russian prison authorities three weeks ago,
according to Amnesty International.
After an international campaign, including an Amnesty
International petition, the office of the Russian ombudsman now
says that authorities have confirmed suspicions that she is on
her way to a prison camp in Siberia, thousands of miles away
from her husband and her small daughter, with an Orwellian claim
that the move aims to "promote her resocialization."
