Did they have a set of carbon brushes grounding the blade?
The neoprene tires on my bandsaw wheels would prevent the necessary
current flow. That is a good thing because it would toast the
bearings muy pronto.

With an industrial grade saw with lots of hp, you can cut just using
friction. No teeth necessary on the blade.

My dad never had any black powder around, but you can get a six foot long
flame out of a can of starter fluid (hair spray is only good for two).

Then again, IME, journalists are some of the most
clueless people on earth. Just last night, ABC's David
Wright(?) was telling us how it'll take 35 days to
manually offload 4 tons of supplies from a ship in the
port of Haiti. I have to guess he meant 4 thousand tons,
but that's the problem with people on teevee today...
you're always having to guess what they really meant.
For context:
A moving crew of two can offload a moving van with 9
tons of household goods/furniture in ~2/3 of a day.

This segues into a long running discussion in vocational
education called the individual/case v aggrigate/generic debate.
An expansion of this discussion can be seen at
Tussing, D. (1997 Fall) ECN 358 / WSP 358 Economics of U. S.
Poverty and
Discrimination. Syracuse University:
http://www.maxwell.syr.edu/maxpages/classes/ECN358/
http://www1.maxwell.syr.edu/uploadedFiles/Tussing_CV.pdf?n=6060
http://www.gdrc.org/sustdev/causes-poverty.html
What this boils down is that what may work and work well for an
individual, or even a limited number of individuals, does not
work as a universal rule or for even a significant fraction of
the population.
High wage skills or high return investments depend on two
factors: (1) the market demand and (2) the supply. When either
factor is missing the value falls. For example, there may be a
market demand for CNC machinists, but if there are 10 qualified
applicants for every available jobs the wages will drop, possibly
to minimum wage because of the oversupply.
The same holds true for vacation house rentals in Vagas. If
thousands of people do this, the resulting glut will quickly
drive the rental prices down to less than break-even.
As for the suggestion that the individual invest in other than
government insured instruments such as FDIC savings account and T
bills, for a higher return, I suggest looking at the record,
including the banks and quasi governmental operations such as
Freddy and Fanny. Names like Enron, Silverado and LTCM also rise
to the top. see

Good casters cost real money for a reason...because good casters take
effort and material to make.
Compare a good caster to a cheap caster...the difference in quality is
easily detected.
What are you putting these casters on?

How about getting one of these:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=38970 and
then use it's wheels?
These are pretty good quality and are rated for 250lbs each.

My customer says they have a machine with an ASA female shaft, but the ID
dimension (round) is 0.750" and it takes a 5/32" woodruff key. Doesn't
match my ASA adapters which are closer to 1.000" in diameter.
Anyone have the specs on or a supplier for these 0.750" ASA-type adapters or
is my customer crazy and this is just a female shaft adapter, etc?

Jon, why didn't you take up the challenge I posted earlier? See below,
in case you missed it the first time.
Jon's new buzzword is clearly "adding intelligence" to stuff.
I'd really like to see Jon add some intelligence to this topic, by
explaining VERY SPECIFICALLY how he machines an open pocket in
Mastercam.
He absolutely will not explain it. This is identical to his tombstone
machining Jihad from a few years back. He bleated on and on about how
Mastercam was no good for "tombstone machining", and continuously
pointed to pretty pictures from the HSMworks website, as some sort of
"proof" of how great HSMworks is at "tombstone machining." Many of us
continually requested that Jon elaborate on his method for "tombstone
machining" in Mastercam. The answer was sure to be entertaining, since
he's never programmed anything with a tombstone before. Of course, he
never, ever answered the question, and he's still never machined
anything on a tombstone before.
Just more clueless, uninformed, buzzword riddled Jihads from Jonny
Press Release. "Adding intelligence" is likely a buzzword from the
Esprit website somewhere.

Jonnie Bonkers,
Have you tried to post to any other forum lately?
Do you understand that even IF you could forge an IP address, you
would still be a crazy, ranting, nutter?
Changing your IP address, or changing your name does not change your
insanity, and you get banned as soon as you pop your head in anyplace.
Tell us again how changing an IP address will make you appear to be
sane.
We need a good laugh.

The story about Gunner, who recently said he had no money, stopping by
Red Cross and giving them a $100 cash donation, and not getting any
receipt, does not sound believable. Does not mean that it is outright
impossible, but it is not believable.
At this point, being a true agnostic, I do not believe the story to be
true, but I am not certain that it is false, either.

What's a little amusing is that Gunner thinks he didn't need to file on
$18K.
He owes the SE tax, about $1,500.00, on every dollar and the filing
requirement kicks in at the same time - dollar one.
I think, THINK mind you, that income in excess of $600 requires a filing but
I'm not sure.
What I am sure of is that filing isn't conditioned on owing the IRS or the
FTB and anything over $1,200.00 requires a 1099 even if payment is made "in
kind". Otherwise, whoever paid him owes his tax.
Gunner said he begun BK proceedings. I doubt that because if he had he'd
know all of this and he aslo wouldn't be looking at bills from a hospital or
anyone else.
He'd have listed them all as creditors and that would be that. In
California, it would be illegal for a named creditor to continue to pursue
their claim outside of the court proceedings.
Failing to list ALL of your income, assets, and creditors will cost him his
house. It's a bad idea for him to continue any fraud that might have been
going on in front of the court. In fact, it's a felony and California will
forfiet his homestead act rights and protections in a heartbeat. I actually
collected $27,000.00 from a guy this way once and boy as he ever P.O.'d. So
was his mortgage lender.

I've been to Africa once - Egypt, which most folks forget is N. Africa,
not M.E. A lot of interesting contrasts there.

whom one can have a good and respectful conversation, and they should be

I can barely remember my parents discussing, during WWII, the new
story of a local pastor taking advantage of such lonely wives.
Probably something that goes on during every war.
