She's home, feeling a bit beat up but improving steadily. She is
taking it easy as she should. I'm in caregiver mode for a little
while, my turn in the barrel and I'm very glad I'm able to do.

Couldn't interest her in food tonight but she had a nice Belgian
waffle for lunch. I've got some ribeye steaks thawing in the fridge
for tomorrow. I strongly doubt that she'll be uninterested in a nice
ribeye broiled very rare with baked tater and green peas. I could also
do garlic smashed taters but it's hard to beat a bake with a steak.

I'm not projecting here, Mar purely loves a good ribeye bloody rare.

Tonight, as I sat next to her with Gladiator on the TV, she talked
almost nonstop for well over an hour. She's feeling better! Mary is
absolutely not a motormouth, she was just a few days behind on sharing
while inward focus took higher priority. I sure do understand that!

She'll not complain about nor admit to fear or pain pro tem but she'll
later share experience with me when she's ready to do so and has it
parked. We're both like that.

Cardiac issues and events do tend to have emotional impact. I pretty
much ignored the movie and listened to her, kidded her now and then.
We're teammates.

Nobody wants to seem like a fraidy cat but anxiety can happen when the
monitor in the ICU keeps beeping an alarm condition for low B.P. with
an alert flashing in red on the monitor. Remediation was 3 units of
blood and a liter of something else IV. That sit was what kept her
there for an extra day. We continue to be impressed with the quality
of care provided by this facility and the competent and caring
professionals who work there.

She accepted wheelchair transport with me as pusher at the clinic for
some lab work today, but when I took milady to lunch afterwards she
walked into that restaurant like she'd dance on the bar if they had a
piano player. I can fake it as a honkytonk piano player but Baker's
Square has neither a bar nor a piano so we quietly enjoyed our lunch.
She's sleeping in a recliner for a while. Been there, done that. I
slept in that recliner for more than a month.

So install porta potties and add some street lighting.

Its gonna be a hell of a lot cheaper than paying for housing

people who expired their unemployment and are no longer on the rolls.

Take it easy on poor Hawke, his Socialist Utopia is already kaput. His
liberul politicians are destine to lose the House, Senate, Governors, Mayors
and Dog Catchers. AND his climate scam has been exposed to the world and
those idiots are nothing more than comic relief. So, he's doubled-up on his
anti-depressants and "mood enhancers". THEN, he knows all the socialist
damage his heroes have done will be quickly reversed after November.

Software wise there is Mach3 that runs on a Windows system or EMC2 (free)
that runs on Linux (free). I went with EMC2 because with it I can use
hardware compatible with my existing servos and drives. My servo drives
take a +-10V signal and position is sensed by encoders. Last time I looked
I believe Mach3 only had step and direction outputs. EMC2 can be configured
for step and direction or analog signal outputs and they can be mixed and
matched. For example with my mill I plan to convert, I have 3 axis servo
motors and would like to motorize a dividing head with a stepper motor and
drive I already have. Plus if I add an encoder to my mill spindle then I
can do rigid taping.

Something I would like to do sometime is configure a stepper axis and use
position feedback, either DRO scales or a rotary encoder. I know with
steppers, if they slip and get behind, speeding up isn't usually the
solution, but at least I could fault on position error and not scrap the
part. I would like to figure out how to do a feed rate override and slow
down the feed if an axis got behind.

EMC2 is very configurable and that also means it has to be configured, but
it isn't that difficult because there are multiple configurations already
done, you just pick something close and modify it for your application. For
example for a stepper mill, the example may use a different number of steps
per inch (or mm)or may use limit switches or maybe not. For my system I
wired an encoder to my breakout board and played around with settings to
learn how things worked. Once you pick a similar configuration and look it
over, it starts to make sense and is easy enough to figure out.

Spring is for metalworking? I got my machine room done in time so I could make chips
comfortably in the winter. I *thought* I was going to shop for an air conditioner today
for the shop but winter came back. I can put that off for another week.

What sized air conditioner do I need for a roughly 8' x 12' shop where summer temperatures
seldom get over 90 degrees F? There is a lot of thermal mass in the shop that might skew
what would be recommended for something of volume like a bed room.

As an aside, my first google came up with response on how big a air conditioner to deal
with the heat from the grow lights in the room some guy is growing mary jane. You never
know what you will find DAGS.

As to my needs, I'm thinking 3500-5000 btu, I'd rather have something quite that just
whirls away a bit on a hot day, sure don't want to sweat and freeze as something to big
kicks on.

Thanks,

Wes

If it has a lot of thermal mass, you could put it on a timer and run
it at night when the outside temperature is lower. Get the shop so it
is a little on the cool side and then a small unit would work to keep
it cool.

Probably not. Tyrone is a pretty small town. Surplus places like
that weren't likely to be members of a Chamber of Commerce and it
wasn't in Tyrone proper. It was somewhere along Rt 220 closer to
Tyrone than Altoona, but it's the kind of place that the local metal
workers would know. It had piles of end mills and drills and you
bought things by the pound. I may be in the area in the next couple
of months and wanted to stop if it was still there, but the side trip
would be a waste if it was long gone.
