Expenses Sample project

Does anyone know why I would get this error when trying to run the
samples/expenses app via maven.

: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/datanucleus/
PersistenceConfiguration
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not initialize class
com.google.gwt.sample.expenses.server.domain.EMF

I am running this by using these commands.

mvn compile
mvn gwt:compile
mvn gwt:run

I also tried to use mvn gae:run but get the same error.

This is the sample project in the trunk of the GWT samples area.
