See 9.4 and 10.7.

And it's fairly easy to see what they have done by examining the CSS.
However, you shouldn't copy it. And perhaps someone from Google will
notice now you have been kind enough to point it out! Note also that
that map uses Version 3 of the API, the Group for which is at
http://groups.google.com/group/google-maps-js-api-v3/
